Education gives urban women better knowledge of the opportunities and challenges in the workplace, and education gives urban women an understanding of their roles and limitations in the workplace, as well as the ability to develop their own personalities with or without the assistance of their families. Back then, women faced some man-made barriers, but now they play vital roles in a variety of fields. These days, women are balancing both family life and professional life, thereby raising their societal status. The attitude towards women and their role in the family remains unchanged, despite the fact that more and more women are seeking paid employment, and their families also depend on their income. As far as women are concerned, they remain weak, inferior, and considered second-class citizens. As of today, men are generally considered to be responsible for the care of their families and children. The explanation below is to show the issue or problems and challenges faced by urban working women.
The Issue in Research:
1. Elasticity of working hours
In 1998, the Employment Act 1995 was amended to provide flexibility in working hours and enable the Minister of Human Resources to issue regulations on benefits that must be paid at the same rate to part-time employees as to full-time employees.
2. Night shifts,
3. The welfare of pregnant and maternity women,
women working mainly in the public sector are given maternity leave for 60 days until the 5th child.
4. Workplace safety
Various laws and acts were amended and enacted to guarantee women’s welfare in the workplace. While laws may be used as a shield, the reality is that there is a lack of training and experience to address the above issues. Training is needed so that employees feel safe and ready to perform services better and more productively.
5. Sexual harassment
6. Social problems
The government provides tax relief to encourage the construction of workplace care centers as well as appropriate infrastructure.
The Problems and Challenges in Research:
I have made some research for a study that has been done. Specifically, the study proves the problems of ongoing research regarding the problems and challenges faced by working women in the workplace:
1. A balance between family care and paid employment.
2. Women face work-related stress problems.
3. Victims of physical harassment and unfair treatment at work.
4. A tolerance for abuse, violence, harassment, and discrimination.
5. Problems with sexual harassment, mental stress, and safety.
The following is an example of a table I took based on a study done in India on issues or problems and challenges faced by urban working women in India. I hope it helps.
